Emergency Communication Procedures
In the event of an emergency occurring in the building or on campus, you should call 740-4321 rather than 911. Campus security will contact 911 emergency and will coordinate access for the appropriate emergency response personnel. Calling 911 directly will actually delay the arrival of the emergency response personnel since they may not be familiar with the various campus locations.
In the event of any major emergency affecting our campus, you may call USC Law's main telephone number, (213) 740-7331, for information specifically relating to USC Law. If the telephones are working properly, we will be able to change and update the outgoing recorded message as necessary.
For general University information you should also be aware of two additional procedures for communication:
USC Radio has agreed to serve as a primary source of emergency information. KUSC 91.5 FM (and its sister stations in other areas of Southern California) will carry emergency announcements and updates critical to the University community. In the event of a major emergency, members of the University community should tune to KUSC 91.5 FM as the official source of USC emergency information.
The University has also established an emergency information telephone line, which will be activated by University Public Relations. In the event of a major emergency, students, staff, faculty, and parents may simply call (213) 740-9233 to hear the most current information available concerning the status of the campus, academic schedules, and other key concerns.
