Duncan Crabtree-Ireland is general counsel of Screen Actors Guild, responsible for all Guild legal affairs and strategy, and for overseeing its national legal, affirmative action/diversity, governance, agency relations, and financial assurances departments. Previously, Crabtree-Ireland served as the Guild's deputy general counsel and as a deputy district attorney for the County of Los Angeles. He also focuses on international law and legal issues, and teaches the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition class at USC Law.

Crabtree-Ireland serves as a judge pro tem and court appointed arbitrator for the Los Angeles Superior Court, a State Bar-appointed special master, the chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's delegation to the Conference of Delegates of California Bar Associations, and as a member of the executive committee of the L.A. County Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section. Crabtree-Ireland is a past co-president and current board member of the Lesbian & Gay Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. He was the principal drafter of SB 1465 (Kuehl), a bill designed to protect union members' privacy rights when their personal records are subpoenaed, which was signed into law by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on July 6, 2004, among other legislative measures.

Crabtree-Ireland received his Bachelor of Science in foreign service from Georgetown University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where he was inducted into the Order of Barristers.
