Robert H. Fairbank began his legal career in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he was a litigation partner from 1984 to 1996. Since co-founding Fairbank & Vincent in 1996, Mr. Fairbank has represented a variety of companies in complex business disputes, such as Mattel, Hilton Hotels and Genelabs Technologies. He also has acted as adjunct professor at both USC Law and the USC Marshall School of Business, teaching the seminar “The Enron Era: Lessons Learned.”
Mr. Fairbank was retained by The Regents of the University of California in 2002 to consult in the Enron, WorldCom, AOL/Time Warner and Dynergy securities cases. He is a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides independent advice to the regents in their role as lead plaintiff in those cases. In addition, Mr. Fairbank has represented top executives from Homestore, Tenet and the City of Hope. In 1993, he co-authored “California Practice Guide – Civil Trials and Evidence,” the leading treatise on California civil trial practice.
Mr. Fairbank received his A.B. from Stanford University, his M.L.S. from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from New York University, where he served on the law review. In 1995, he was recognized by the first “Law Who’s Who” in the Los Angeles Business Journal, which features the 100 most prominent business attorneys in Los Angeles. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference, the Judicial Council and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
