Daniel Black is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s entertainment, technology, media and telecommunications practice. He has extensive transactional experience in the domestic and international television and motion picture industries, having practiced law both in the major studio and law firm settings. His expertise lies in entertainment, business, and technology media and communications. At USC Law, he is an adjunct professor of Film and Television Law.
Mr. Black has served as lead counsel on several transactions with pay, cable, direct broadcast satellite, and video-on-demand television networks. His clients include production and distribution companies, showrunners and producers, advertising agencies, syndication companies, and on-air television and sports personalities. He also has substantial experience in structuring international co-productions, helping to access money from the public and private sectors for productions around the globe.
Mr. Black received his A.B., cum laude, from New York University. He also holds a J.D. with Phi Beta Kappa honors from The George Washington University Law School. Having been admitted to practice in both California and New York, he has given numerous lectures at institutions such as Harvard Law School, the International Film and TV Finance Summit in both New York and Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the Vancouver Film Festival and McGill University. He also is extensively involved in the legal community, serving as a member of the board of overseers at Emerson College, the California State Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
