Intellectual Property Institute

The Intellectual Property Institute has forged a reputation for gathering national speakers to analyze sophisticated topics and provide practical take-aways to attendees. Focusing on copyright, patent and trademark law, the Institute features morning plenary sessions, a luncheon keynote, afternoon tracked breakout sessions, and four networking opportunities, including a hosted cocktail reception. Past speakers have included Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Kozinski, Federal Circuit Judges Linn, Mayer and Michel, Eastern District of Texas Judges Davis, Folsom, Love, Parker and Ward, Central District of California Judges Feess, Matz, Morrow, Snyder, Tevrizian and Wu, Northern District of California Judges Fogel and Zagel, ITC Judge Luckern, Congressmen Berman and Waxman, and the general counsels of the PTO and Copyright Office. The 2010 Institute

  • Judge Leval Keynotes Morning; Commissioner Rosch Headlines Lunch; Updates by Lemley, McCarthy, Nimmer

    Second Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Leval will open the 2010 Institute with a keynote presentation. The morning will continue with an in-depth review of current developments in copyright, trademark and patent law with the leading academics in the field: Professors Lemley, J. Thomas McCarthy and Nimmer. Commissioner J. Thomas Rosch of the Federal Trade Commission will keynote the Institute's luncheon presentation, discussing potential antitrust liability for single firm behavior in the IP context. The afternoon will feature three concurrent tracks of programming focused on copyright, patent and trademark issues. The day will end with a hosted networking reception.

    The USC Law Intellectual Property Institute will return to the Beverly Hills Hotel in March. Known for its storied past, this celebrity hot spot features famous eateries such as the Polo Lounge, as well as a beautiful pool lounge.
