First Year Students

Initial Career Counseling Sessions

All first year students will be meeting individually with a CSO Counselor, for an initial Career Services counseling appointment. Half of the 1L class has been scheduled for appointments in the fall semester; the other half will be scheduled for the spring semester when the spring class schedule becomes available (at which time, an email will be sent to each student's USC email account with his/her appointment information).

National Association of Law Placement (NALP) First Year Hiring Index

Each year, NALP surveys its member employers regarding interest in hiring first year law students for summer employment. This information is available online, with search, mailmerge and comparison capabilities at www.nalpdirectory.com.

Clinical Internship/Judicial Externship Program

A Clinical Internship is a position for which you can receive academic credit by working for a non-profit public interest office or government agency. A Judicial Externship is a position for which you can receive academic credit by working for a judge. Spring On-Campus Interview Program

One of two annual on-campus recruitment programs (the other being in the fall), the Spring Program is open to all law students seeking summer and permanent employment. Participants include government, public interest and private legal employers.

Annual Southern California Public Interest Career Day

Co-sponsored by the Southern California-area law schools and hosted by the UCLA School of Law. The event is open to all law students seeking summer and permanent employment in public service.
