Career Information for Students

Welcome to the Career Services Office (CSO) web page for USC Law students. The CSO provides a range of programs, resources and support to assist students with their individual professional development and job search efforts. Throughout the year, we announce and post a wide variety of job announcements, we conduct recruiting programs, and we present workshops on a number of topics, including resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing skills, and different legal career opportunities. The CSO also offers individualized career counseling, mock interviews and resume and cover letter review.

Our Mission:

The Career Services Office of the University of Southern California Gould School of Law is dedicated to providing students and graduates the information and tools necessary for successful career development and advancement.

Our office assists students and graduates in their pursuit of careers in a wide variety of settings including large and small law firms, public interest organizations, government agencies, corporate and business environments, academics, judicial clerkships and non-traditional careers.

Through an extensive array of services such as individual counseling, informational and skill building workshops, mock interview programs, written and online resources, job posting databases, numerous on- and off-campus employment programs, and a substantial graduate network, the Career Services Office helps educate students and graduates for a lifetime of successful career management.

Our Staff:

Assistant Dean and Dean of Career Services — Matt DeGrushe

Matt joined the Career Services Office in 2005 after serving as director of the Pepperdine University School of Law Career Development Office. Prior to his time at Pepperdine, Matt spent four years working at the USC Marshall School of Business in the MBA Career Resource Center, as well as several years as a recruiter for McKinsey & Company.

Originally from New York City, Matt earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Indiana University in 1990 and his Masters in Education from the USC Rossier School of Education in 2003. Matt is an avid college sports fan with strong loyalties to the USC Trojans and Indiana Hoosiers. In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, roller blading and spending time with his dogs.

Director — Priya Sridharan, Esq.

Priya Sridharan joined the office as assistant director in 2005, and has managed the clerkship program while providing general career counseling. Prior to joining the Career Services Office, Priya practiced law in a diverse array of settings in Los Angeles, including the private, non-profit, and the public sectors. Priya was an associate at Tuttle & Taylor and then a staff attorney for the Asian Pacific American Legal Center. Priya also served as a legislative deputy to Councilmember Eric Garcetti and most recently as a deputy city attorney for the City of Los Angeles.

Born in South Carolina, and raised in Maryland, Priya earned her B.A. in Government and Politics at the University of Maryland at College Park, and traveled westward for law school, graduating from U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law in 1999. She lives in South Pasadena with her partner, Cecilia, and their daughter, Shireen. Priya spends her scraps of free time playing with her family and friends, and also loves to cook, bake and barbecue, read fiction, travel and run.

Associate Director — Linda Richardson

Linda Richardson is responsible for the coordination of on-campus interview programs and all related recruiting activities, including off-campus job postings and reciprocity requests, establishing and maintaining relationships with employers interested in hiring students and graduates, andmaintaining student and alumni/ae employment databases.

Linda Richardson earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Southern California in 1980. She continued contributing to the Trojan family by joining the staff of the USC School of Engineering, and subsequently the USC Law Career Services Office in 1990. When not at work, Linda enjoys spending time with family and friends and expanding her creative talents. She has designed and built several pieces of furniture, experiments with cooking (from baking to Mexican and Thai cuisine) and has recently taken up gardening. Linda also enjoys salsa and swing dancing.

Assistant Director — Suzanne Huntley Levy, Esq.

Suzanne earned her J.D. from USC in 2001 and is excited to return to USC Law. She joins us after serving as associate director in the Career Development Office at Pepperdine University School of Law. In addition to her career services experience, Suzanne spent several years as an associate in the Los Angeles office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, LLP where she practiced corporate law. Suzanne’s enthusiasm and broad range of experience will be welcome additions to the career services team.

Assistant Director - Betty Chia, Esq.

Betty is excited to join USC’s Gould School of Law this year as an Assistant Director. She spent several years as an Associate in the Los Angeles office of Dykema Gossett, LLP & Bennett & Fairshter LLP where she worked on business, construction, and real estate litigation matters. In addition, Betty has been an active member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) serving on the Board of Governors and on the Executive Planning Committee for their regional conference.In 2007, Betty spent some time practicing law in Washington DC working on litigation matters and was a Director for the Asian Education Fund (AEF). Through her involvement with APABA and AEF, Betty planned, coordinated, and implemented mentorship, speed networking, and career-building programs for law students.  Betty has worked with various non-profit organizations around Los Angeles including the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, and the Center for Law and Justice to name a few.

Originally from Venezuela, Betty grew up in Los Angeles and earned her J.D. from UCLA in 2004, and her B.A. in Mass Communications in 2001. In her spare time, Betty enjoys reading, traveling, exploring new adventures and is on a mission to find the perfect coffee and dessert shop.

Career Services Assistant — Tegan Amendolare

Tegan joined the Career Services Office as the administrative assistant and will be responsible for all administrative duties associated with office operations. Prior to joining the Career Services Office, Tegan worked at the MBA Marshall Career Resource Center and served as the logistics coordinator.

Tegan is originally from the East Coast, New York and Florida. She is currently finishing her education in Business Administration. In her spare time she volunteers for her church and loves to cook, bake, crafts and most importantly loves soccer. Viva!! Italia!! 2006 World Cup Champions!! Tegan currently lives in Burbank with her sister.

Career Services Assistant — Sara Cruz

Sara joined the Career Services Office as the career services assistant. She will be responsible for workshop marketing, website management, and communication material for the office. Prior to joining the Career Services Office, Sara was the human resources coordinator at Specialty Laboratories in Valencia, Calif.

Sara was born and raised in Santa Clarita Valley, Calif., and graduated from UC Santa Barbara with her B.A. in Sociology in 2004. Sara loves traveling and has lived abroad in Ireland. In her spare time she enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family.
