Tournament Rules
Scramble
Each member of the fivesome hits a tee shot. Men play off of the white tees. Women play off of the red tees. As a group, you choose which drive to use for the next shot. Your entire group then hits from within 1 club of that location - except for putts, which are hit from the exact location. If you choose a ball in a bunker, everyone hits from the bunker (you may rake after each shot). Continue this method of play until the ball drops into the cup. All players' drives must be used at least once. Check the back of your scorecard for the local rules. They must all be followed.
Score
There is only one score per hole. The maximum group score per hole is a bogey. If your group has already taken strokes that add up to par +1, pick up your ball and head to the next hole. Record the bogey on your scorecard.
Fivesomes
If your team only has four players, the golfer with the highest index in each group may hit two shots instead of one. If your team only has three players, the next highest index player may hit two shots instead of one. Every effort will be made to fill fivesomes. Please notify us in advance.
Off the Green
The ball may be moved one club length, no nearer to the hole, except that the ball may not be moved from a bunker, marked hazard, out of bounds or on the green.
Clubs
The 14 club limit is waived for this tournament.
Team Flights
Prior to the tournament all teams will be divided into three flights: the lowest third of team indexes (A flight); the middle third of team indexes (B flight); the highest third of team indexes (C flight.) One low gross prize and three low net prizes will be awarded to each flight.
Team indexes will be calculated by multiplying the lowest individual index by 30% and then the combined team index by 10%. Those two figures will then be added. If a player does not have a SCGA registered index, one will be assigned by a Wilshire professional and that team may not be assigned to the A flight.
Hole-in-One Contest
The contest will take place on hole 7. All golfers will participate in this contest. To be eligible to win the $25,000 prize, golfers must play the contest hole only once in the proper rotation based on their starting assignment. Witnesses will be stationed on the course. If a player wins the $25,000, the player will receive $12,500 and $12,500 will be donated to the law school in their name. To qualify to win the money, men must tee off from the blue tees on this hole only.
