About the Sydney M. Irmas USC Law Golf Tournament

Join us as we spend a day on the green - making new friends, creating new memories and supporting the future at the 26th Annual Sydney M. Irmas USC Law Golf Tournament on October 1, 2007.

History of the Event

The golf tournament was established by several alumni who wanted to raise money for scholarships by playing golf. The tournament was later named after Sydney M. Irmas for his dedication to the tournament and the law school. The first tournament was played at the Riviera Country Club on April 19, 1982. As one alumnus put it, "We decided to have a tournament for two reasons, fun and funds." After 26 years the fun is obvious, contagious and continuing.

The funds raised from this charity event are committed to student aid, a priority of the law school at a time when tuition and fees are over $37,000 per year. The success of our tournament is directly related to the time, effort and generosity of the tournament committee.

The Need

Tuition dollars cover just two-thirds of a student's education at USC Law; the rest comes from the support of alumni, friends, foundations and investments. Revenue for the Sydney M. Irmas Golf Tournament goes directly to student scholarships enabling the law school to continue to recruit the best and brightest law students.
