Stress Management

For many students, some aspects of law school are inherently stressful. Occasionally you may perceive that your stress level is problematic. There are a variety of resources available to assist you in those instances.

The University offers a range of services from the USC Student Counseling Center. Services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psychiatric services, treatments for eating disorders, and consultation and referral services. A wide range of counseling services are available.

The Student Counseling Center is located near the center of campus in the YWCA Building. You can make an appointment by calling the Student Counseling Center at 213-740-7711. A staff member is available for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is no extra fee for counseling services; the charges are included in the Health Center fee that students are billed for automatically. All students are entitled to an initial intake appointment.

Within USC Law, Ms. Linda Bassett is available to meet with you to discuss both academic and non-academic matters of concern. Ms Bassett can help you understand the options available to you within USC Law curriculum; she can also refer you to the appropriate campus resources that may be available. You can reach Linda Bassett by calling 213-740-6314, or in Room 104.

Some students find the stress management materials created specifically for law students to be helpful. The links to those materials are below:

The bottom line regarding stress is that, if you perceive that your stress level is problematic, do not hesitate to contact Linda Bassett or the Student Counseling Services. We will do all that we can to assist you--to help you remain and succeed in law school.
