Judicial and Clinical Externships

The Office of Public Service is responsible for the coordination and administration of the Judicial and Clinical Externship programs. Students can receive academic credit for clinical externships by working for a non-profit public interest office or government agency. Students also receive academic credit through an externship with a judge.

There are many benefits to doing an externship, but there are also several requirements that students need to complete in order to secure academic credit. Students can find all the necessary information about each of the programs in the documents linked on the side, which they should read before applying for an externship. Students should pay special attention to the information in the Judicial Externship Handbook or the Clinical Externship Handbook, depending on the desired type of externship.

For more information, please send an email to externships@law.usc.edu.
