USC Gould School of Law, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Corporate Law Departments Section and the Institute for Corporate Counsel invite you to join us at the most valuable two day event of the year for corporate counsel.
Enjoy an evening of exceptional networking with 500 of your professional peers at the Outstanding Corporate Counsel Award Dinner on December 5th. This can't-miss event is an annual tradition in the Southern California corporate counsel community. The 2007 recipient of the Outstanding Corporate Counsel Award is Joseph D. Mandel of UCLA. Join us in honoring him at this gala event.
The Institute for Corporate Counsel on December 6th provides a full day of top-notch, in-depth legal education, with concurrent tracks of programming in the afternoon that allow you to tailor your learning experience to meet your particular needs. We encourage full-time law students to take advantage of the discounted student registration rates.
LUNCHEON KEYNOTE PRESENTATION
"Character Counts! "
Michael Josephson
Josephson Institute of Ethics
Michael Josephson is the founder and president of the Josephson Institute of Ethics, which he founded in 1987 in honor of his parents. The Institute has conducted programs for over 100,000 influential leaders, including public officials, school administrators, military and police officers, journalists, senior corporate and nonprofit executives, as well as judges and lawyers.
Through the institute, Mr. Josephson founded Character Counts!, the nation’s leading character education system. It now reaches five million youngsters through the CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition, a widespread partnership of schools and youth-serving organizations. Two Presidents, the Congress, most states and countless municipalities have endorsed the Coalition’s approach and declared the third week in October “National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week.”
Mr. Josephson is also the program designer of the “Honoring the Badge” seminar. In collaboration with expert practitioners, peace officers, and its many partners in the field of policing, the Josephson Institute of Ethnics has developed a highly focused training course to help police managers and administrators perceive, avoid and deal with ethical problems. He is a former law professor who has extensive experience working with law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles and Ventura County Sheriffs’ Departments, the California Peace Officers’ Association and the FBI.
Every day, listeners can hear his Gabriel Award-winning radio commentaries on CBS station KNX-1070 in Southern California, as well as on stations across the country and on American Forces Radio around the world.
Mr. Josephson has assisted elected officials, editors, jurists, military and police command officers and executives at the nations’ largest corporations, nonprofit organizations and government agencies. His work ranges from confidential consultations to keynote addresses and workshops.
Mr. Josephson received the America’s Award in 1995 from former President Ronald Reagan. In 2000, he was named to the Bush-Chaney Transition Advisory Committee as a nonpartisan character education expert.
