Academic Support Courses in the Curriculum

In addition to the co-curricular workshops open to all students, there are two Academic Support courses in the curriculum for which students may receive credit toward the J.D.

In the Spring semester, first-year students may request to take a special section of Criminal Law (Law 504) with Professor Tom Griffith. Although the lecture component of the class is the same as the other offered criminal law classes, Professor Griffith holds an additional class for students to learn and practice legal writing and analysis skills using criminal law problems. Enrollment is limited to 30. Information about how this class will be graded is available here: Grading for Criminal Law

In the Fall semester, second-year students may request to enroll in Professor Heidi Rummel's course, Legal Analysis of Evidence, a course that is taught in conjunction with Professor Lee Campbell's Evidence course. Both courses combine learning the substantive legal material along with practical exercises designed to assist students in developing the analytic skills necessary for success in law school, on the Bar examination and in law practice.

Since some of the instruction in these courses is done in small groups or individually, both courses have relatively small limits on the total number of students who may enroll in them. For more information about these courses, contact Ms. Gabi Ryan.
